Carrie Buchanan worked as a newspaper reporter and editor for 15 years — 12 of those at the Ottawa Citizen, the major daily in Canada’s capital — covering many different stories on a wide variety of topics. Her favorite beats were city hall, health & environment, and the 18 months she spent covering Quebec’s Outaouais region. A native Montrealer, Buchanan speaks French as a second language and has as good an understanding of Quebec politics as one can, given that it is a way of life for Quebeckers to talk, change and argue about politics. For the past six years, Buchanan has lived in Cleveland, Ohio, where she now teaches journalism at John Carroll University, a liberal arts college with about 3,800 students. Her personal website is at www.carriebuchanan.com
